Student of the Month:

Ava Littau

This month, we are proud to recognize one of our outstanding students who continues to demonstrate excellence, perseverance, and commitment to their future.

Ava Littau, Nursing Assistant program, exemplifies what it means to be College Bound, showing determination in the classroom, leadership among peers, and a clear vision for their future. Her journey reflects the power of support, mentorship, and opportunity coming together at the right time.

“She is respectful in class and shows up ready to learn. Ava is dedicated to her education and turns in excellent work, always on time,” relayed EVIT Teacher Natalia Raymond.

In addition to a Certificate of Achievement, Ava receives a $50 check for her accomplishment. Well done, Ava! We celebrate your achievements and look forward to all you will accomplish in the years ahead.

College Bound AZ Open House at EVIT

April’s Open House at the East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) was a tremendous success! We hosted our Visionary Circle donors and community partners to showcase the depth and impact of College Bound AZ.

At the Open House, we unveiled our Hearts of Hope Donor Recognition Board, a powerful symbol of generosity and belief. Each name represents a different donor who has given a student the opportunity to create their brighter future through higher education.

Each column represents eight donors who contributed in the 2025-2026 school year.  We had over 300 donors this year alone who wanted to change the life of one student. From student success stories to program highlights, the message was clear: lives are being changed every day.

Another Open House is planned for September 25, 2026 where you can see the food pantry and where services are provided to our aspiring RISE Scholars.

Real Impact Story: Supporting Dominic When It Mattered Most

At College Bound AZ, our mission goes beyond academics, it’s about showing up for our students when life gets hard.  Dominic is one of those students.

A senior in our program, Dominic is currently living on his own and working two jobs just to make ends meet. Despite the weight of real-world responsibilities that most students never have to face, he continues to pursue his goal of attending college to study Dental Hygiene.

Through our Fueling Minds with Heart food pantry program, we provided Dominic with essential food resources through donations and our partnership with Midwest Food Bank—enough to sustain him for several critical weeks.  RISE Scholars also provided Dominic with a laptop computer for his college success.

This is what your support makes possible: real, human impact when it matters most. To our donors, you are the reason stories like Dominic’s have hope!

Tech for Tomorrow E-Waste Recycling Program

E-Waste Recycling Program: Turning Waste into Real Opportunity

In partnership with Bits n’ Bytes Computers, College Bound AZ’s E-Waste Recycling Program is transforming 10,000 pounds of electronics from Vantage West Credit Union into refurbished laptops, scholarship funding, and student advising.

Rosanna Ramirez, Vantage West Credit Union with TJ & Becki Watson, Bits n’ Bytes Computers

Across offices, warehouses, and storage rooms, thousands of pounds of electronic waste sit out of sight and out of mind—old laptops, desktops, monitors, and devices that are no longer in use but still hold value. Too often, these items eventually end up in landfills, contributing to one of the fastest-growing waste streams in the world. Yet this same e-waste contains recoverable materials and reusable technology that can be converted into real dollars and real impact when responsibly recycled.

College Bound AZ makes the process simple. We coordinate pickup through our trusted recycling partner Bits n’ Bytes Computers, ensuring that all materials are handled responsibly and efficiently. Usable equipment is refurbished into reliable laptops for our students, while non-repairable items are responsibly recycled—generating funding that directly supports scholarships and student programming.

We encourage businesses to take a fresh look around—check your storage rooms, back offices, and warehouses—and ask: What is sitting unused that could change a student’s future? By donating your e-waste, you are not only reducing environmental impact but also helping provide critical tools and opportunities for underserved youth pursuing higher education.

Your unused technology can become a pathway out of poverty for a student.
If your organization has unused electronics, we encourage you to donate. This program turns waste into opportunity.  Let us know by emailing Elizabeth Paulus at [email protected] or by using the online form found on our website College Bound AZ.

Leadership Spotlight: Tim Palmer

We proudly welcome Tim Palmer as our new Board President. His vision includes expanding our reach, enhancing our digital presence, and growing our impact across the community.

“Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of seeing firsthand how College Bound AZ changes the trajectory of students’ lives. This work is deeply personal to me because every student deserves someone walking alongside them on the journey to college. Stepping into this role as Board President is an opportunity to deepen that commitment—expanding our reach so even more students can realize what’s possible for their future,” said Tim. His leadership marks an exciting new chapter for College Bound AZ!

Closing Message

Dr. B said it best: “We need to share the great things College Bound AZ is doing—so that we can grow the program.”

To our donors, partners, and supporters, thank you for making this work possible.

Together, we are changing lives, one student at a time.
